APIA Insurance Review
Insurance Review: APIA Insurance Reviewed by Insurance Fort
Rating: 4/5
Insurance Company Description: APIA is one of the many leading Australian insurance companies, forming a branch of SunCorp. APIA was established over 20 years ago and is renowned for offering outstanding customer services and prices. APIA has more than 700,000 policyholders across Australia served by over 450 staffs.
Covers: Home insurance, car insurance, caravan insurance, boat insurance, motor home insurance, travel insurance
Pros: Staffs from the customer service team are noted to be helpful, polite and fast to settle. Many customers with houses burgled and car stolen have reported events in which APIA settled their claims within two weeks.
They are fair with their premiums and the policy booklets are comprehensive. If questions arise, staffs are easy to speak to.
Overall: APIA, like most other insurance companies, has a very difficult fine print, Terms and Conditions, and policy to understand. For example, it is written that damages from water are covered, including sinks, basins, gutters, drains, toilets and baths, but not showers. This policy could be a bit deceiving since showers are one of the main causes of water damages. If you are unsure of anything, always seek expert advice either from the staffs from the customer service or find a lawyer who has experience in the specific field.
Insurance Fort believes that APIA is a company worth purchasing insurance from.

Pros: May be cheaper in the first year
Cons: Crazy auto premium pricing from web quotes: $631 & $1063 for two adjacent houses - identical details otherwise. Renewal premium for latter: $791 (up 28% without claim). Illogical explanation from staff.
After the 1st year, not really good deal for seniors as they claim . What can I expect another year later?
Overall: Not happy. They give you a good first-year premium to get you in and then put out premium inexplicably by 28% on renewal. Dodgy practice.

Pros: no pro
Cons: may i say, EVERYTHING!!
Overall: I was really disappointed that I insured my car in APIA. Waste of money!

Pros: Prices of their quotes, easy to claim.
Cons: premiums go up without any warning, and u to 10%! Claims are sometimes rejected.
Overall: I joined apia ever since I saw their ad on TV and deicded they were a relaiable and hoenst company. During my time with them, I have only made two claims. The first one got rejected for no reason, but the second claim that i made (whic was only a few weeks later) got approved.
Still I dont konw why the first one got rejected but im happy that atleast ig ot somethign for being with them. Could be better though.
